Yes indeed, Catalysts has moved, but that doesn’t mean we are gone, we just moved to our new website
together with our partners from Crisp Research to do the same things we used to do in an improved way. We still do great software and we are still great people, more or less only the color has changed except from our domain 😉

Catalysts @ Software Product Line Conference 2012

SPLC 2012 Salvador

Recently, I attended the 16th International Software Product Line Conference which took place in Salvador da Bahia, Brasil. I travelled with a team from the Johannes Kepler University Linz also attending the conference. Rick Rabiser organized the doctoral symposium and did a great job as doctoral symposium chair. Wolfgang Heider, Daniela Lettner and Alexander Nöhrer presented results of their ongoing research on impact analysis of variability model changes, integrating business calculations during product configuration and tolerating inconsistencies while taking decisions:

Besides further interesting talks, I had the chance to talk with people from all over the world about their current projects, experiences with product lines and future work. After the conference, I had the opportunity to do some sightseeing in Salvador da Bahia. There are lots of beautiful places in Salvador including the historic center of the city and palm-fringed beaches. However, there is also a big contrast between people living in modern, developed parts of the city and people living in favelas, huge slum-like neighborhoods.

To sum it up, the trip to Brasil was very impressive. I improved my knowledge of the field of software product line engineering and I am looking forward to using product line engineering techniques in my daily work life.
