The Catalysts Coding Contest, or CCC for short, has its roots in Linz. Back in 2007, the CCC was born out of a scientific experiment at the Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) and is now one of the best-known competitions worldwide. Through the design of the task, participants are guided through several levels that build on each other and gradually become more difficult. Not all participants manage all levels, but most come further than they expected. Thanks to the CCC, Catalysts is able to recognize, challenge and promote hundreds of IT talents.

On 16.11.2018, the 29th International CCC took place. Over 3000 participants attended the 28 venues. The aim was to secure the G13 summit in Moscow from snipers in the year 2020.

The School Coding Contest started at 10:00am CET, where 1000 pupils struggled through the levels. The winner came from Romania, who beat the 6 tricky levels in 1 hour and 29 minutes. In Austria, the victory went to “danish.at” with a time of 1 hour and 32 minutes.
The Classic CCC started at 15:00. There were no age restrictions and with more than 2,000 participants, the 28 host cities were well packed. Here the victory went to Romania as well. The team “Infoarenacoders” managed 7 levels in 2 hours and 23 minutes. The best Austrians listened to the team name “We’re just here for the food” and were obviously hungry enough to get a gold medal. The field of participants is very wide – from young to old, students, professionals. The examples are not academic but come from practice. Everything is allowed, the goal is predetermined, but the path to it is up to the participants.

The internationalisation of the CCC enabled Catalysts and Partners to find talents from all over the world. Participants with outstanding performances at the contest receive offers from various companies to gain valuable work experience or take the next step on their career ladder.
