Hash Code is a team programming competition organized by Google for students and industry professionals across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. You pick your team and programming language, they pick a Google engineering problem for you to solve.
On the 1st of March 2018, the official qualification rounds for the Google Hash Code took place. Catalysts joined the 4h event with 2 teams in Cluj-Napoca, 3 teams in Linz and 10 teams in Vienna! With an overall amount of 90 teams submitting a solution in Austria, Catalysts stands out with the most teams (all of them very successful!).
But nevertheless, it’s the quality that counts, and not the quantity. Despite the fact that all Vienna teams submitted very good solutions (2 of them in the top 7!), it were the teams of Linz who took the company-internal lead!! 😛
With 2 teams in the Top 5 – one team only missing 1st place by ~0.02% of the overall score – all colleagues were really satisfied and enjoyed the results on the scoreboard while having some truly deserved beers!
The team from Cluj had decent results as well, one of them missing overall 1st place only by ~1.2%, the maximum score being 49.776.211 out of theoretic maximum of 52M. Overall we are happy with how the contest went (demonstrating good teamwork, and good synergy between team members). We are looking forward to participating @HashCode next year too.
